| History I am an animal lover who has always kept busy, throughout my life, enjoying the acts of raising, handling and caring for different animals. I first started breeding canaries 38 years ago, nothing too involved but I tried my hand at it just the same and was graced with some chicks. These were of the standard yellow variety, heritage of which I am still not sure of. Back then, I was able to purchase a canary for approximately $3 - $10, at a local Woolworth store. It all came to an abrupt end when I experienced misfortune with a household cat. Despite the bad experience, through the years, I looked back fondly at those times when I was rasing the canaries and I continued to talk about it to various people around me. Three years ago, I saw a red-factor pair in a pet store and had marveled over their color. One was a crested intensive male and the other was a frosted female. They peaked my interest so much, that once home, I proceeded to do some research. I never planned on purchasing them as I am always skeptical of pet stores. However, to my surprise, I did receive that very same pair from the store after all. It was from someone who had heard my tales from years past. Needless to say, the pair I received never did produce chicks for me but through my earlier research, I knew that I needed to go directly to the top breeders and those who entered in competitions. As a result, I now breed top quality red-factor canaries. Today, I visit bird shows and feel that I have some of the best looking red-factors in comparison.
